End of the Season in the Community Garden

The gardeners and I had a beautiful Saturday morning to do last minute winter preparations and beautification for spring. One gardener had already water proofed the picnic table, Virginia had already started sifting compost earlier on the week, daffodil bulbs were planted, the water tank scraped and burlap wrapped around the fruit tree trunks. Over and over again I heard people expressed their thanks for having the garden as an outlet and place to visit during covid.

This Week's Lessons

The Season of Pentecost

The readings for Sunday are

Revelation 7:9-17

Psalm 34:1-10, 22

1 John 3:1-3

Matthew 5:1-12

Hands of many represent the wings of a dove in new sanctuary hanging.

Brian Zinken, who often joins us on Zoom Sunday mornings has donated a sanctuary hanging done by his late wife Marie. She is the daughter of Pastor Norm and Helen Lange and she also created our Tree of Life Banner.

Of the banner, Brian writes, “the Banner was commissioned for the 20th Anniversary Service for our home congregation in Mississauga which has since closed.   Actual hands of many congregational members both young & old, male & female were traced and used. For me, I see the circle representing the continuing life of the congregation. The hands of various colours; our diverse connection within our congregation and the holy spirit within us all through our baptism; in the hands that represent the wings of the dove.

I know the “Tree of Life Banner” for Mount Zion was a labour of love, and this one held a special spot in her heart too. Marie was a great believer that people should look at banners and take from it what they see and not define or limit too much in word.  Recently someone said to me ‘It’s a very appropriate banner for All Saints Sunday’ and that again shows the interpretation that one individual had.”

I am very glad it will be used and seen by many.”

Thank you Brian for this gift and thanks also to Susan and Richard Brubacher who hung the banner this week. You can see it on the back wall of the sanctuary by the Westmount door.

In our Prayers

In Our Prayers

Let us continue to remember Margaret, David, Rosalie and Marjorie, in our prayers that they would experience wholeness and relief. Let us continue to remember the people of the United States as they go through the elections. Pray that those elected would be just, compassionate and work towards peace..

235 Dawson Update

Work continues at 235 Dawson St. Presently, the kitchen cupboards are being installed under the supervison of Martin Juergensen; the upstairs bathroom has a new floor and shower cabinet thanks to Ross Schlegel and Dennis Kuepfer, the landscaping is properly graded with pavers reset thanks to Dennis and our Landscape contractors; the basement floor is being replaced and is a "Work of Art (Shelter)" and Kirk Swanson is straining at the bit to start painting. Bill Gastmeier drops around to help out as much as possible. A new roof, furnace and water softener have been installed and the front door and new windows are a sight to behold. A new garage door coming soon. Many voluteer hours have been spent and there are many more to come. When you see any of these folks give them a big raise or at least, a pat on the back.
