Adopt a Cause

Striving to live our mission as a caring and sharing Christian community,

our congregation is always seeking new ways in which Mount Zion

can reach out with caring hearts and hands in service to others in our community.

The Service Committee identifies a cause to support each quarter year.

In addition to financial donations and volunteer hours, we also contribute by building

awareness about a wide range of service needs and programs.

Projects and activities we have featured include (among many more):

Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR), Habitat for Humanity,

Food4Kids, House of Friendship (Potato Blitz), Pride Stables,

Waterloo Regional Food Bank, Mary’s Place, Out of the Cold,

Supportive Housing of Waterloo, Music for the Spirit and Marillac Place.

The list grows and changes with the need in our community. Our committee

is active, engaged, and always welcoming to more helping hands and ideas!

Music for the Spirit holds a special place in the hearts of many at Mount Zion. The  program began from the desire of members of the Six Nations of the Grand River Anglican Parish to use the creative arts to give opportunities for young people  to express their identity and learn musical skills.

Through group music learning, singing and playing Music for the Spirit nurtures self-esteem and self-image, acceptance for self and others, and builds a sense of respect for each community member.
