Sunday School

Our Sunday School is offered in an informal, fun, and caring environment designed to give children a good overview of the biblical stories of faith. Classes start 15 minutes before worship so that the children, after their class, can join the congregation for worship and Holy Communion. In addition, children are invited to take part in special services – such as the annual Children’s Christmas Service.

In the spirit of community and giving, the children are encouraged to participate in the charitable programs supported by Mount Zion, i.e. gathering food for the Food Bank, mittens for a mitten tree and items for ‘We Care’ bags.

Confirmation

Confirmation is an intentional learning opportunity for students in Grades 7 & 8. Participants explore and challenge one another on issues of faith and discipleship in their everyday lives.  The curriculum rotates each year focusing on Martin Luther's Small Catechism one year and Biblical study & Church History in the other year. In addition to their classes, confirmation students are invited to serve the congregation in many ways: acolytes, lectors, crucifers, Communion assistants, and Assisting ministers.

Confirmation Camp

Confirmation Camp is a week long education program for youth ages 12-14.  Our youth gather at camp on Lake  Huron during the last week of August each summer for fellowship, learning and worship opportunities in the Lutheran Faith. We join with 10 other local congregations for this week long event.

The Post confirmation Youth (or PCY’rs), gather semi-regularly for a variety of opportunities. Youth are invited to engage in the life of the congregation through worship, fellowship, spiritual retreats, and fundraising opportunities.

Men's Breakfast

Good conversation, in good company over good food, that’s the point of our Men’s Breakfast gatherings. We get together every other Saturday at 8:00 a.m. for an hour or so to talk about whatever’s current and of interest: be it local or world events, and yes, even politics and religion. It’s a delightful time of light conversation and fellowship (and food too!). Do come and join us!

Book Club and other discussion groups

Lectures and book club discussions are organized regularly. Watch the calendar of events.
