Summer Community Outreach Liaison

Mount Zion is currently seeking an individual to act as Community Outreach Liaison. That person will facilitate safe community spaces to nurture relationships through the Mount Zion Community Café, the Open Sesame Headstart Preschool, and Music on the Mount Outdoors.

The Community Outreach Liaison will assist program staff and volunteers and bring their musical expertise to enhance existing activities at the Mount Zion Café and Open Sesame Preschool. Singing and playing instruments could be one part of the interactions with program participants, depending on the skills and interests of the Liaison.

​

The Community Outreach Liaison will take the lead in creating a series of outdoor programs for Music on the Mount Outdoors which will offer an opportunity to hear and see a variety of cultural communities that make Waterloo their home. Scheduling, networking, and logistics for these events will be the primary responsibility of this position. Knowledge of digital social media and promotion methods would be a key asset to making these events successful.

Skills: organizing activities, communicating with the general public, using music as a means to build community and deepen relationships, building a network of potential partners.

​

Relevant programs of study: Music, Music Therapy, Recreation and Leisure Studies, Early Childhood  Education, Social Work.

Proposed Start Date:  May 28, 2019

Length of Contract - 8 weeks, 35 hours per week

Remuneration: $14 per hour
